Elliott Handler (Creator of MATTEL TOYS)

Elliot Handler the creator of Mattel Toys lived in the area and created one of the most famous toy companies in the world. He grew up in Denver, went to East High School and met his wife there and later moved to California where he went to college for design. He worked in the lighting industry and was given the oportunity to ceate with a new material (plastic) and created a company that designed jewlery then began making wooden photo frames and then noticed a desire for furniture for kids toys so he used wood scraps and plastic to create miniature toy furniture and that's where Mattel came from with his co creator (Matt) who later left and it was just Elliot and his wife running the show. They come out with multiple toys that were a hit but Barbie and Hotwheels stole the show with millions of sales worldwide.
